Photo: Highest resolution image of the moon ever

OK, you've seen lots of images of the big pizza pie in the sky. But this one is extraordinary. It's the one of the highest resolution images of the moon ever made. It's actually a mosaic of 1300 separate images taken by the Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter’s Wide-Angle Camera. The total size is an incredible 24,000 x 24,000 pixels. The images were taken over the course of two weeks in December 2010 by the LRO in a polar orbit around the Moon. Behold!

Dell marketing stunts ends with SWAT team

There is dumb and there is dumber. Two Dell employees must truly believe the saying"There's no such thing as bad publicity". They put together a hostage-themed marketing stunt to market the Dell Streak tablet and it went very, very wrong.

A Dell sales manager dressed in a biker costume complete with black mask while carrying two metallic objects. He then told people at Dell's Round Rock headquarters to "go to the lobby."

The Round Rock SWAT team responded to multiple 911 calls of a suspect inside of one of the Dell campus buildings. When officers stormed the place, they say one man refused to comply with officers. 11 minutes into the situation police finally determined the masked man and another man were part of an in house marketing plan but had not told anyone about it.

Now that's marketing! Sounds more like an episode of The Office.

Man behind Facebook virus hired by Facebook

In 2005 a kid named Chris Putnam wrote a computer virus and introduced it to the Facebook website. It quickly spread across Facebook. What it did is turn Facebook user's profiles into MySpace profiles. It also deleted some contact information. Facebook was able to determine the source fairly quickly: a kid named Chris Putnam. Have him arrested? Nah.... in the great tech tradition of knowing genius when they see it, Facebook COO, Dustin Moscovitz hired him. Smart move.

I like my pancakes and like to use lots of syrup, but this is just plain ridiculous. Have a look at this mass brawl at a Kenny's in Chicopee, Massachusetts, when one group of girls asks the other if they could have some syrup. I guess they take their maple syrup real serious in Chicopee.

Town changes name from"Speed" to "Speedkills"

In one of the more asinine moves, the town of "Speed" in Australia has changed its name to "Speedkills". This outback town of 45 people is changing its name for the month of March in an effort to reduce road accidents. Hey, perhaps New York should think about renaming itself "CrystalMethKills" for a month and end its drug problem. Or maybe "Gunskill". Wow. It's that simple!

The town has taken its message to Facebook, saying that the name change would go ahead if it got 10,000 supporters -- a number hit within 24 hours. It currently has nearly 34,000 supporters. Too bad.

Video: Terrorist terrier goes on rampage on plane

A Manchester terrier went on a rampage on a US Airways flight after escaping from its cage, biting and injuring a passenger and flight attendant. After landing the dog and its 89-year-old owner were allowed to continue on another flight. I'm hoping they at least strip searched them both.

Video: 11-year-old boy arrested for stick figure drawing - led away in cuffs

An 11-year-old boy was arrested and hauled off in handcuffs for drawing stick figures in school, something his therapist told him to do. In a separate incident last October, he drew stick figures of himself with a gun, pointed at four other stick figures with the words "teacher must die." Bad boy – but sounds just a wee bit harsh on the punishment. Why not a public flogging while we are at it.

It's been reported that a theme park called World Joyland is being built in China around the video game World of Warcraft. The park is reportedly located in in Changzhou, Jiangsu Province and opens sometimes next month. I know the Chinese can do some crazy things but is there anything the world needs less than this?

They entered their video in the "1 Minute To Save The World" competition in which young filmmakers are asked to create a one-minute film about climate change. First Egypt – now IHOP. OK, maybe trivializing what happened in Egypt is a bit insensitive. This FOX TV crew was trying to interview people who had set up a memorial for 27-year-old Chester Jackson who was shot and killed in a parking lot outside an IHOP in Sacramento. Tempers flared and the TV crew payed the price.

President for an hour – sit behind JFK's desk, search for Marilyn Monroe's panties

The Museum at the John F. Kennedy Presidential Library in Boston has unveiled a new online feature: The President’s Desk. You can click around the desktop an get various videos, audio and text from the good old JFK days. There is even a secret recording button you can click. Clicking the telephone displays up a list of recorded conversations,from which you can listen to the president talk to his brothers Robert and Edward. "Hey Ted, what really happened at Chappy?" Well, I guess the time sequence is wrong to hear that one. Click the women's panties in the drawer and see a secret video of JFK and Marilyn Monroe. Too much to hope for I suppose.

Black students late because slaves were late says professor

Murray State University political science professor Mark Wattier is planning to retire after allegedly making the following remark to two late black students. This is one of the student's recollection of what was said: "Well, it’s OK, I expect it of you guys anyway,’” When asked to clarify, he allegedly said that slaves never showed up on time, so their owners often lashed them for it. Wattier had this to say about the incident:  "I did say, 'Do you know why you were late? There's a theory that a way to protest their master's treatment was for slaves to be late.' Take your pick of versions, but in either case, the good professor has used some bad judgement.

Mean mom sells kid's toys on eBay

A mom, fed up with her boys spinning tops that were wrecking her bathtub, decided to sell the toys on eBay. She put the posting up – complete with photo of her crying boys. Fortunately, she attracted the attention of site 4chan, which quickly ran the bidding up to $999,999 before the auction was closed, most likely at the mom's request. The kid's toys were saved, but they are still stuck with one mean mom.
Here is the mom's original eBay posting:

"We are selling 8 Beyblades, 2 of them light up. As you can tell they are not happy about this! They have been using their bathtub as a "battle arena" and Beyblades + Bathtub = Destruction!!! With the metal ones they managed to scrape the enamel off the tub, take a chunk of tub out and break off the soap holder. SO if you "win" this auction DON'T play with in a bathtub!!! We have recieved a quote of $500.00 to replace the tub, some tiles, and soap holder + labor of course! They had approxamently $125.67 in their piggy banks that will be going to toward the cost. We will use the profit from this auction towards the balance and then it is onto other toys!"
